What a feeling!

OMG the feeling to be away from that last job is awesome!

It was just not a great fit.

I can recall being told that I "asked too many questions" whenever they rolled out new products.  Uh, okay.  I'll be sure to keep that in mind for the future.

I actually really liked the product, and the new stuff we were doing, and our office in the midwest, but I could not DEAL with the internal teams.

I think that's a common problem for me, I better keep that in mind.

But, I would often get one-sheeters and crap to send out to my client with misspelled words, or a different version of our logo,  cheesy clip-art or a million different fonts.  I mean, that's advertising 101.

I think I also got in trouble for sharing the definition of Millenial with a co-worker who thought Millenials were only girls age 14-17.    Um,  millenials came of age at the millenial, ie the year 2000.

Which means, the oldest ones are now 18 + 16 = 34.  Not 14.

When I quit, the CEO said he’d like to “keep the conversation going”, and wanted me to meet a new lady in charge in some new way that would make everything better.

I didn't hear from him at all on his most recent visit to Chicago.

Not to be catty, but ok, to be a bit catty, when he or the VP of sales came to see us in Chicago I would often sense they didn’t know our names.  That certainly does very little to inspire confidence when we were the most successful sales region.

I’d love to post a review on Glass Door---but whenever any former employee posts their true sense of what it was like to work there, the tech dude counters them with a “why they are wrong” note.

That certainly creates an atmosphere of feedback being accepted!

Anyway, I am GLAD to be gone from there.  I told them I mostly needed a break from sales, which is mostly true.  But I also needed a break from that place.

I'd rather drive strangers around in a car than work there.

Crushing it (NOT! PSYCH!!!)

8/4/16
Today is “personal business” day.

I need to upload a Cobra document to my laptop, and thought “oh!  My printer scans”.  Rather than email, I thought I’d throw the doc on a thumb drive, which is an option it gives me. However, there is no visible port on the printer so I pulled it away from the wall and looked everywhere.  No dice.

This is a newer HP I bought at Costco.

I thought to myself, “If this is American Technology, specifically HP, I know why that company is sucking wind so bad.”

So, I am sitting here, not wanting to look up the computer model, and figure out where the g-d port is, so I made some popcorn and drank a La Croix to calm myself down.

I remember when a dear dear work colleague of mine was sharing that her husband (who was a dirtbag at being a husband) and her were divorcing.  She said “well, at least one good thing—we all are awesome at CRUSHING PAPERWORK”.  We had just heard about the divorce, so I chose not to respond verbally, but I remember thinking (we are? Who is? I am not good at crushing paperwork at all!  I hate that shit!).

That’s how I feel right now—surrounded by mounds of envelopes, cheaper cable notices, etc and I just want to go outside and run away from it all!

But instead I have to set up a google pay account, print and scan a contract, scan some cobra documents, find my missing credit card, file some bank statements, get some mail to ex-roommate’s husband, read my Nat Geo, and I just want to RUN RUN RUN!

But, that’s not how crushing paperwork works.

Ps---I got so overwhelmed that I absolutely failed, and took a nap from 2-5.  Better luck tmw!

a 3 hour nap. A 3 hour nap!

8/3/16
My good pal Joey hooked us up with the big bus double-decker passes for Tuesday—so nice of him and that tour was a blast!  I had biked downtown and back home to Andersonville, which was pretty exhausting.

I was so glad to sit on a bus because those gals were starting to wear me out!

We all got SUPER hot stuck in Lolla-traffic on the awesome bus, so got off and had a drink near Michigan Avenue.  Alli tried to order hot chocolate (girlfriend is a FOOL for Hot Chocolate in any weather) and then headed north to check out my favorite lakefront spot—Montrose Beach and The Dock. It was a gem of a day, and the gals hit the water while I lounged and nursed my beer.

In my younger days, I would have never dreamt of sneaking beer on the beach---but now I know that EVERYONE does it, so it’s super-casual. If anyone comes up just say “it’s apple juice!”.

We had snacks at the Dock and took some great pictures.  Then, I didn’t plan well and use the facilities at the Dock, and we were walking to the car and I REALLY had to go.  Like, bladder might explode feeling GO. So, I channeled my inner-hippy/wild child from high school, and I found a spot peed outside (but not around the girls, just Amy---but she’s been to a dead show, so it didn’t matter), and then we went to the dog beach for Sunset.  It was gorgeous, and we all had a blast, even though Pickle was home resting and did not join us at the dog beach.

The gals packed up and left the next day---and I felt lonesome for their company, but also took a 3 hour nap so I may have been a bit tired.  That's half of a night time! I even woke up in the middle of it, and went to the bathroom and decided to just keep sleeping anyway!
