GIG!
7/18/16
Drive #3: Sunday
morning. I didn’t realize I’d get so
nervous driving others around---I feel responsible for someone’s life. Well worth it for the $6 I earned this am,
driving back from Park Ridge.
This one was going from some random restaurant in Edison
Park to North Park. We wound our way
through the cop neighborhoods of the far Northwest side. When I initially saw her waiting—she looked
all of 14. I thought I was part of a
child running away from home. But, it
turns out she is a server. Anyway, I
dropped here near her place, and then decided to go off line to I could go home
and prep for rehearsal and yet another gig.
I do like all the different parts of Chicago I got to
see—including a tiny hill in one of those cop neighborhoods!!
I have a fantasy of marrying a cop or firefighter, buying a
bungalow in a cop neighborhood and having some buffets with neighbors, so it’s
super-fun to drive in these hoods.
But, then I met a bike cop—and he texted me incessantly
saying things like “You want to go on boat?
You want to go on bike ride? You
want to go to midnight mass on Christmas Eve?”
He was super-cute, but didn’t ask ahead and the last thing in the world
I was going to do was hop on a motorcycle, speedboat or new parish with some
dude I met once.
You want to work gig?
